Landlords suck

So my hour meeting this morning turned into a 2 hour meeting where I wanted to shoot myself. As soon as the meeting was out it was time for my mid morning snack so I chowed down on some veggie crisps. These are ok, I don't think I would get them again. I decided to ho home for lunch today to get my daily fix of the Rachel Ray show. I was never into Rachel ray before but since I figured out her show comes on during my lunch hour I always find myself rushing home to watch what she's cooking for dinner tonight. While I was watching I had some left over pizza and salad.
My afternoon snack was an apple. I brought my apple cutter to work and had fresh apple slices at my desk.
I have been fighting back and forth with my landlord over my dog for a few months now and today as I was leaving my work there was a not very nice voicemail from him on my phone. I feel like I'm arguing with my Dad when I talk to him only I don't argue with my Dad I just argue with my stupid land lord. I just can't wait until I get to move out of here in 3 months. Luckily, I was able to run my frustrations out in my normal 3 mile run.

When I got back from running I prepared this great meal idea I got from Tina's blog. It was roasted red peppers, shrimp & feta cheese. It was soo yummy! On the side I had some whole wheat cous cous and steamed broccli.

Yummy Berries

I went to bed a little hungry last night so this morning I was starving as I got out of bed. I always wait to eat until after I get ready for work, so needless to say this morning I just threw some clothes on and threw my hair into a pony tail and was done. For breakfast I had a multi grain Eggo this morning with some blackberries and strawberries on the side. I also had my little glass of OJ.
Now its off to work to start my morning with an hour long 8:30 meeting.... yippee :/

Pizza, Pizza, Pizza

The oatmeal ended up not being as fulling as I originally thought and by 10 am I was starving. I had my mid morning snack of Graham Crackers a tad early today. They were very yummy.

Since I was getting my nails done after work I got up early this morning to do a Jillian Micheals exercise tape and then walked around Lake Ella during my lunch break. I would have preferred to run, but its too dark in the morning and I didn't want to get all sweaty during work. When I got back to my desk I had the same chicken salad concept I had the day before. Except today instead of pickles I mixed apples into the mix.. YUM. It's not quite as good as making it fresh at home but still very yummy. On the side I had a Diet Green Tea and some crunchy carrots and cucumbers.

I usually get hungry again around 3:30 and today I had some grapes and almonds to hold me over. I forgot to take a picture of it, I gobbled it up pretty fast. I guess I'm still getting used to taking pics of my food before I eat it.

After I got my nails done I wanted something quick and easy to make to eat so I heated up a Roasted Veggie Kashi Pizza and made a light salad of mixed greens, carrots, cucumbers, grapes, & sun dried tomatoe vinegarette
My dessert was one of my fave new combinations. I mixed together some smart balance butter, splenda & cinnamon and poured it on top of a pear that I baked at 425 for 29 mins. I topped it off with some fat free cool whip. This is sooo yummy and if I could I would eat it every night.

Oatmeal Attempt

So let me start off by saying that I am not a fan of Oatmeal. something about the mushy consistency that is similar to grits, I really can't stomach. I have been attempting to try to eat them though, because they really are a filling healthy food. Last week I made some peanut butter oatmeal cookies that I didn't hate, so when I saw the trend of Baked Oatmeal on others blogs I decided to give it a try. I followed Eating Bender's directions from her blog, except I added a little peanut butter to it for some extra flavor. While her's looked nice and crispy and delicious, mine was mushy and not very appealing.

I attempted to eat my bowl of oatmeal, but probaly ate half before feeling like I wanted to vomit becuase of the texture. The actual taste wasn't so bad, but definately not something I would try again. I ended up eating all of the apples off of the top and throwing the rest out.

Here's a view of the top of the dish. I will say for the half of bowl I did manage to get down, I am strangely very full so I will credit oatmeal with that power of filling.

Day 1

After a weekend of slight indulgences I always use Monday as my day to get myself back on track. This morning I started out with a bowl of Kashi Heart 2 Heart Cereal with some black berries and strawberries. I also had an 8 oz glass of Light & Healthy OJ. OJ is one of my few indulgences and I probaly have a glass every morning. Some people are addicted to coffee, but I am addicted to Orange Juice. I have actually cut down a lot from where I was drinking a year ago. I used to just get regualr pulp free Tropicana and have 2 or 3 large glasses a day, cutting it back to one small glass has been a gradual occurance.

For my mid morning snack I brought some Annie's Whole Wheat Bunnies to work with me. This was my first time trying these and I have to say I really enjoyed them. They remind me of Wheat Thins only with a lighter taste. They were able to hold me over until lunch.

Since I had left Abbie, my puppy, at my house today I had to go home at lunch to let her outside to do her business. I usually get my best lunches this way because it enables me to go through my fridge and make a nice fresh lunch, rather then just having it soggy at work. Today I had some left over grilled chicken breast so I decided to make a chicken salad sandwhich. I used half the breast, a 1/2 tablespoon of Smart Balance mayo, a tablespoon of honey mustard, some cut up pickle and grapes to make the chicken salad. I had the salad on top of some mixed greens on the sandwhich. I also had some crispy carrot sticks and cucumbers on the side to round the meal out.

I had an out of office meeting today and I went with good intentions of eating my Special K bar as a snack. Unfortunately when I arrived the table of food looked very appealing. I don't have a photo, but I had some mixed fruit, an itty bitty suasage, and a biscuit with honey. I had not had a biscuit with honey in forever and it just looked so appealing at the moment.

After work I went on my new loop run I discovered this weekend. There's something about running a loop, rather then running one way and then straight back, that just makes a run more appealing. I need to drive the loop to see the actualy distance but I think it's about 3 miles. I am going to add a little more distance to it once I figure out how more of the roads connect. I also did some ab work after that run. I have officially conquered playing fetch with Abbie while doing crunches. Something about me being on the floor makes her think its play time .

Dinner ws an experiment tonight. Robert, the boyfriend, has been begging me to make chili for a while now, so I buckled down and tried to find a healthy way to make his favorite dish. I found something on the purdue chicken site that appealed to me and I just modified it to my taste. I had some leftover grilled veggies that I threw in as well. Robert thought with the veggies it was more like a stew but I thought it was great.

I topped my chili with some 2% cheese and some Whole Wheat Bunny crackers. The corn muffin on the side was definately not healthy at all. The jiffy corn muffins are Robert's fave, but as I was reading the label the muffins are 170 cals a pop. I need to find something healthier for corn muffins out there.

For dessert Robert had some frozen yogurt ( I stole a bite) while I had some sugar free jello.

Now I'm off to Robert's to get a good night sleep before my AM work out I have planned. Good Night!

My Name is Meghann

My Name is Meghann and this is the beginning of the journey into my life as I attempt to get healthy.

Back in January I stepped on the scale at my Doctor's office and was in so much shock over the number I shed a few tears. Since I had graduated from college and started a full time job I notcied my clothes getting tighter and my thighs getting wider, but I never assumed I could tip the scale so high. It was at that precise moment I decided to make a change in my life. I threw away all the junk in my kitchen and started concentrating on making healthy good meals. I began running every day and started competing in 5ks. I started to use my Netflix supscription for work out videos and began to tone my body.

After 4 months of hard work and healthy living I reached my goal of shedding 20 pounds and have never felt healthier. I am focused on healthy living more than ever and do not want to go back to slob I had become. This diary is about my life and my constant effort to live a healthy life. In my weight loss journey I found so much inspiration in reading other people's real life struggles with weight loss and healthy eating that I wanted to share my journey as well.

Welcome to my life.
